Physiological and Pathological Auxology
Editors: Ivan Nicoletti, Lodovico Benso, Giulio Gilli
Foreword by J. M. TannerEdizioni Centro Studi Auxologici / Nicomp LE, Firenze (Italy), 2004.
The volume is composed of three parts. The first part treats physiological growth - from the prenatal period to the end of growth - and the basic methods of auxology (anthropometry, endocrinology, genetics, measurement techniques, skeletal maturation assessment, use of growth reference charts). The second part gives ample attention to clinical auxology and deals in particular with growth disturbances due to hormonal, metabolic, and genetic alterations as well as to chronic diseases. The third part deals with social and epidemiological auxology. The Appendix provides height reference standards used in various countries. As Tanner says in the Foreword - the peculiar virtue of this book, that distinguishes it from other current texts on Auxology, gives it the invisible subtitle "Auxology for paediatric endocrinologists, dysmorphologists, clinical geneticists and general paediatricians".pp. 654+XIVPrice 130 EuroContributorsJ.
